Feast of All The Saints Most Beautiful of Polish Holidays

The last colour accent of Polish autunmn is a Catolic feast for All The Saints cosidered one of the most beutiful Polish feasts. Marble gray or black gravestones are decorated bouquets of chrysanthemums and more and more ofter wich colorful lamps on batteries replacin traditional stearin lakes. On November 1 crowds of Poles visit relatives who have passed way in cemeteries. There are those who have more graves than living familly members and more cars are parked in front of tne cementeres than there are tombstones in the cementery. But one thing is cerain nowhere will we finds as many flowers as on this day will be brought to cementeries. It can be said that it is also a holiday of chysanthems although the church would condemn it immediately.

Feast of All The Saints

This holiday dates from before the Catholic Roma Empire, one date is conventional and refers to commemoration Christian martyrs killed for propagatig new ideas. Today, this holiday is treated as a day of remembrance for the dead. It is recognized that every deceased deserves to be sactified.

Two days of madness with chysantemums and colored lights it’s like a final farewell to fall, i is followed by dark and cold days until the time of the picnic May, which I will write about soon. (Brux)
