I wanted to write about artificial intelligence. I wanted to write about whether there are any works on this extremely interesting IT phenomenon in Poland. Artificial intelligence is no fantasy, we have contact with it on a daily, for example in Google navigation, but it is not the only application of AI. In the world, many governments spend enormous amounts of money on spyware for citizens, and this is not fiction at all, as such software is part of a once-medical project to combat the anti-terrorist threat. As a result, the resulting projects no longer serve the fight against terrorism, but the censorship of “unruly citizens” (ACTA, PRISM).
I sent an inquiry to a large number of Polish IT companies asking if they knew anything about the work on artificial intelligence in Poland? Of course, I received only a few answers in which the programming of industrial robots was called artificial intelligence. I was surprised by this association of the Polish industry environment.
Only in one case was the project of using artificial intelligence for medical imaging diagnostics indicated. The subject seemed very important and interesting to me, but after exchanging correspondence with the project manager, I was convinced that it was not important enough to brag about it – that there is more advertising here than effective achievements in the project. Maybe it is about the use of EU funding for innovation, which does not necessarily have to be in practice?
I was very disappointed with the lack of involvement of Polish IT companies in solutions related to work on artificial intelligence. Perhaps it is because we meet “artificial intelligence” in the Polish government which everyone has to get and the subject of artificiality is not popular. (Brux)
