“We want to be a place friendly enthusiasts of vortex vehicles, where you can talk together, take advantage of our advice” says Artur Marciniak, the founder of Custom Factory, a fairly peculiar car workshop in Lodz, where the second youth obtain neglected vehicles constituting the history of motoring. In a hall with an area of almost 600 square meters, you can see national automotive during the dismantling of Polish Syrena (Mermaid), Fiat 126p and 125p. But not only, in the depths, we will notice two skeletons of American “cruisers” from the 1970s, and right at the entrance to the slender Karians Jaguar. There are also motorcycles.

And everything started with the trabants. On one of the rally of “soap dish”, two enthusiasts made a decision on a common, hobby action to save monuments. And so in 2010, in a tin garage, Artur Marciniak and Jakub Nowicki began their adventure with the restoration of cars. They did it after work. Kuba from the profession of the pedagoga discovered a passion in the carbear, Artur with experience at the ASO Ford and Peugeot performed his own ideas. It quickly became apparent that the 24-meter tin plate for such a hobby is too small, and a new place in Ksawerow city prevented work in the winter, where the temperature in the workshop fell well below zero.

In 2012, Custom Factory with headquarters in Lodz city was established on the ground of experience, and both its founders (Artur Marciniak and Jakub Nowicki) received independently subsidies for its development. Today, the company consists of a 5-person team working in one of the rented halls. There were about twenty-restored car models and several motorcycles in her achievements. “The year 2014 was the best for us so far,” says Jakub, “There were also such periods that they had to keep us wife.”

On a comprehensive renovation of the historic car, you have to spend an average of 300 to 500 working hours, and often much more and these are costs a minimum of 30.000 PLN (7.800 USD). Work is not easy, most of the body parts must be created on their own, and other parts are difficult to search for scrapers or barn. The team is most proud of the saved Syrena car, which now looks like new, although before the eleven months she was an ordinary scrap. As many as 1250 working hours had to be devoted that a vehicle with a value of a monument was made from wreck in extremely good condition.

Custom Factory media works in hobby historical automotive environments. The offer directs to young people, looking for a way to integrate with the environment of motoring enthusiasts who occasionally acquire a vehicle for a given era and want to restore it or convert in accordance with an interesting and unique project. Among them you will find both sports suspension sets, as well as oils and painting materials from the “Novol – for Classic Cars” series. However, the ambitions of the owners come out further beyond the framework of the workshop himself, they want to influence the integration of the local community on both users and subcontractors specializing in services for historic automotive.

The workshop in the first Polish automotive program entitled Custom Factory has a major impact on the popularity of Custom Factory “Retering”, produced in 2014 for the Discovery Turbo Xtra channel. It was a cycle of 12-sections illustrating the seven-month-old work of the company in the process of renovation of individual vehicles from the communist era of the PRL. As a curiosity, I pay that this cycle of materials took two TVs: TVN for the TVN Turbo and Discovery channel.
