We guess that the cult of the dead ancestors appeared along with the arrival of a man and today is present around the world. It is not known only why it transformed into a holiday celebrated in autumn. In Europe, the first rites of the autumn cult of the dead come from the time of the presence of Celts.
In the times of the Catholic flourish version of the Christianity in Spring was celebrated by the Catholic Martyrs Day, who fell victim to the resistance from the pagans. It turned out that the martyrs of people do not care too much, so in the sixth century he was extended for all dead, who achieved posthumous salvation of divine. Such a feast became more public. Christianization of the world took on demand and to eliminate the thrilling habits of the pagan Catholic Church used the technique of seasons of pagan customs a new tradition and Pope John XI in 935 (other sources say that Pope Gregor VI 837) established on November 1, the day of all Saints of the Catholic Church. The new date was to replace the existing spring day of All the Dead. In such a teminologi, the feast went to Poland together with the Christianity of Polan. However, the strong will of celebrating the feast of the deceased remained and not to enter into conflict of the entertainment of the Pontifical Day of All Dead have been pushed on the second day of November, colloquially called Souls Day.
In the times of folk authority in Poland and the fight with all lectness, the old name of the dead was returned to the old name that is Day of All Dead. After the fall of the communist times, the Catholic definition of the feast was again introduced as the Day of All the Saints and no one in Poland knows how to correctly specify this holiday and how many days are it?
These Poles who want to be considered very modern and global determine this feast new name Halloween and associate with pumpkin and ghosts. But this is a completely different celebration of South American cult of death and Spanish Fiesta. It is not known whether the convergence of deadlines is not accidental.
The most important element of the symbolism of this feast is a fire, which on the day of the holiday was burned in the pagan times at the intersection of roads to illuminate them and help in this way a basting souls seeking a way to the other world. Today, this symbol and the habit survived in full lighted snags on the graves of the dead during the feast on November 1. Day of All Saints.
Poles love this holiday. Polish cemeteries consist of tombstones in the form of flat monuments abolishing small crypts on a coffin with a tombstones containing the inscription of the name and surname of the deceased person and the range of dates in which this person lived. There are often pictures of a deceased or short epitaph. Most such graves are similar to each other and the cemetery resembles, sophisticated large blocks. It does not look nice. During the day of all the Saints’ Day, the crypts on the Polish cemetery are decorated with candles and bunch of flowers more and more artificial from China. Poles try to emphasize their status of wealth with the amount of flowers brought on the grave of flowers and candles. It resembles a sports games consisting in who more light a candle. Poles are involved with families of graves of deceased friends to leave trophies with flowers and candles. This is accompanied by a nervous mood of the crowd and stress caused by the lack of places to move on the roads around the cemeteries and on them, not to mention what the fight must be carried out to park the car.
The feast lasts all day and is very colorful. I like them in the evening time of the day when light candles are biting a throat smoke but they give a clay mood of hundreds of flame flames. When people will start to go down and come back to homes, then you can easily take care of the cemetery alleys and then remind yourself all those who are gone with us and will never be.
The Day of All Saints in Poland has a commercial nature, this is a more tombstone. It seems that reflection on the deceased gives way to the tradition of material worship and custom duty. It is a certain form of national entertainment, business and generating hundreds of tons of garbage. However, this is one of those holidays, which despite the feeling of sadness I really like it and not from this devastating page. (Brux)
