Save From Oblivion – Association of the 28th Regiment of Kaniowski Riflemans.

They have been active from 18 years and they deal with the collection of historical information about the fate of Polish regiments of the Polish Army which during the interwar period were stationed in Poland. Today, this is part of central Poland. Association of the 28th Regiment of Kaniowski Riflemans, this is the name of the organization (the name “Kaniowski” comes from the village of battle) it counts about forty lovers of history. Their enthusiasm in the save of memories and historical documentation can amaze.

Thanks to the favor of the Medical Academy in Lodz city, which is housed in the building of the former military barracks of the interwar period, The association received a rooms for storing found documents and military artifacts that period. This was how a small museum of memories dedicated to the army of the reborn Polish after 100 years of captivity. Persons who have objects that have a family-friendly souvenir on the ancestors performing military service in the period between military war, the Bolsheviks war or the beginning of the Second World War, are reported to the association. Items are offered or frequently redeemed. In this way, the activity of the association has an important function of concentrating historical data. A modest museum can be visited for free one day a month is the last Saturday of the month.

Members of the Association of the 28th Regiment of Kaniowski Riflemans organize or participate in historical stages, which are the form of a spectacle commemorating important battle. Such a historical event takes place on the Warta River in Belen village, where in 1939 on 3 and 4 September, Polish modest troops defended themselves against the furious invasion of the Germans and their doctrine of the instant war. The German armed advantage came with the heroic resource of Soldiers, who mostly killed by fighting for the last cartridge. They defended their homeland before re-slave to the Germans’ authorities. Today, not many people know that such a battle of the Second World War took place, which is why the activity of such organizations in the survival of historical memory is very important.

Battles times have already passed the remaining memories and graves of fallen heroes. If it were not for members of historical organizations operating from passion, many of the graves would be destroyed or the world would forget about them. In the times of communist power in Poland, the government tried erase from the history of the evidence of Poles with Soviet Russia. Care on the graves of fallen Poles fighting with the Russians was not welcome because Russia was a occupation friend. Today, members of the organization are trying to rebuild the reputation of killed soldiers, treating them as colleagues or friends living in a historical period. And colleague can be clearly felt in the Association of the 28th Regiment of Kaniowski Riflemans. This is very unique as in Polish mentality. I get the impression that for Poles, historical sentiment is of great importance and significantly affects mutual respect. He is an important element that bonding Poles in the nation aware of his disappearing and destroyed by the government of identity. (Brux)
